Obama shuts down US foreign torture prisons but still allows “rendition”
Feb 1st, 2009 by markbaland

For those of you who don’t know, “rendition” is a pretty word for the secret abduction of Americans and others and flying them, off the record, of course, to undisclosed locations to be tortured. Pretty evil stuff for a country that calls itself the land of the free and the home of the brave. Well, Obama has ordered that the CIA prisons outside the US be shut down, but they are still allowed to abduct and detain for a “short time”, whatever that means. Not that I don’t want authorities to be able to be tough on terrorists, but there have already been several documented instances where innocent people were abducted, disrobed, blindfolded, and held for months and tortured and the CIA later found out they had the wrong people. I wonder, after abducting you, leaving your family, friends, and employer wandering if you are alive and if so, where are you, and then torturing you for months, does the United States government just say “oh, our bad, sorry!” and let you go? I think in these cases they should pay the wrongfully abducted and tortured millions of dollars, put them and their family and friends  through counseling, get them their jobs back or new ones, pay off their houses and cars (assuming they haven’t already been repossessed, and kiss your ass on international TV, letting a jury of your peers decide the fates of those who have wronged you in such inhuman ways. But that’s just me; one of those crazy freedom lovers who believes in “innocent until proven guilty” and other such liberal nonsense! Im just glad I’m (mostly) white, so it’s unlikely I will be mistaken for a terrorist. I dunno, though, I have friends who are of middle-eastern descent. That may be enough for the CIA to consider me a threat in the new America, which is not the land of the free, nor the land of the brave.
